Mangang Village is located in flatland, with fertile soil and convenient traffic, and its economic development is better than that of Heilongtan Village of Dai people. Five years ago, the villagers already put up house with reinforced concrete. But in Heilongtan Village, when we went to investigate, their fresh house still is made from brick and lumber.

All the villagers are Dai people. The history of Mangang Village can date from 800 years ago . Manduan Temple, which belonged to the same village formerly as Mangang Village, is a famous old temple in Xishuangbanna.

Because of locating in the center of Dai area, Mangang is keeping the trditional Dai custom and habits. At the same time, women of Mangang Village have more opportunities to join in the non-agricultural activities, such as to sell barbecue near the travel site, and there are more women left their home and went out to work than that of Heilongtan Village.
